5 Best High-Rise Bars

Arriving in a city can often be overwhelming so what better way to get your bearings that from the window of a high rise with a cocktail in hand. Here are 5 of the best high-rise bars around the world.

1. Vu's Bar, Dubai

With new buildings popping up all over the place in Dubai, every visit to Vu's Bar at the top of The Jumeirah Emirates Towers will offer you something new to see. Looking out into the depths of the Arabian Gulf, a window seat in Vu's is almost as good as swimming in the ocean. Low lit and atmospheric, you can order anything from a fresh mango juice to one of their many cocktails.

2. 230 Fifth, New York

It is not the high altitude that will take your breath away at 230 Fifth so much as the moment the elevator doors open into the penthouse bar. The opulence of the low light and deep colours, the glitzy corner bar framed by full length windows and the outside decking area with award winning views of the Manhattan skyline and the Empire State Building, which seems so close you could touch it, all make this the most breathtaking bar in Manhattan.

3. Asia Bar, Equinox Complex, Singapore

Situated at the top of Singapore's most luxury hotels, Swisshotel, Equinox complex consists of 2 bars: City Space (Level 70), and New Asia Bar (Levels 71 & 72). Offering panoramic views out of floor to ceiling windows, you can enjoy any one of their delectable cocktails or sip on a glass of champagne whilst admiring unrivalled scenes of Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Get here as early as possible to grab a seat with a view.

4. Vertigo, Bangkok

In complete contrast to the manic hustle and bustle of Bangkok's streets below, Vertigo bar at The Banyan Tree offers up a calming retreat where you can literally stick your head in the clouds and forget about everything. With 360-degree open-air views over Bangkok, you can spend all night gazing over the edge of your glass and admiring the spectacular scenery. You can indulge in cocktails, fine wines and dine from the BBQ menu in the bar-cum-restaurant area.

5. Cloud Nine, Shanghai

Listed in the top five tallest buildings in the world, Shanghai's Grand Hyatt also has the highest bar. Cloud 9 is situated on the 87th floor of the Jin Mao Tower - literally on top of the world. Views of the Bund and the Huangpu River are just a small part of what you can see out of the corner of one eye whilst perusing the drinks menu out of the corner of the other. It's not the easiest bar to get to but it's worth the explore to find.
